Sad News Prince Phillip
Just read that the Prince in his 90s had an accident in his car. Thank God he is OK.
But the eye witness who helped him out of the car said he refused hospital care and returned home. I would have thought he would have been taken to the hospital after a breath test for his own good.
any comments.

At 97 should he be driving, he more than anyone doesn't need to be doing so.
As for hospital, its his choice but he has the privilege of the very best of private medical care and was checked over at Sandringham.
Good to see he was breathalysed, wonder if any charges could be brought, driving without due care and attention?

Chap who helped him out wore a cycle helmet - a nice touch, one road-user helping another.
Apparently the Council plan to reduce the 60mph limit on that road to 50mph. Personally, I'd reduce it further to 40mph in vicinity of side junctions.

I feel more sympathetic towards the two ladies and the baby in the car he hit who had to be taken to hospital!

Why not not reduce the to 30, or even 20. That would allow Philip to drive even more incompetently.

Me too.
If any other 97 year old as caused an accident like that, there'd be uproar.
Glad all involved seem to be OK, especially the baby.

Glad there was no serious injuries and wish all parties a quick and full recovery.

Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Truth be known John, I thought you were going to say he had died.
97 years of age to be driving on public roads isn't for him anymore...He hasn't been a healthy man for the passed couple of years , and he's a potential danger to other road users.
He should grow old gracefully and not behind the car wheel. That's my personal opinion.

He's done remarkably well to stay crash-free till turning 97. There are many who've become unfit to drive at a far younger age - some irresponsible jokers are a hazard from the day they get their license.
Would be more constructive to win something positive out of this high-profile incident. It's well known that junctions are where a majority of accidents happen. Imo it's time to look for a simple engineering solution on fast roads, like 40mph limits at junctions on major 50/60mph roads....For cost of a couple of road-signs, a dangerous location can be made safer and lives saved.

These are the one most inconvenienced, just glad no serious injuries,
incidentally, while I don't wish the old boy any harm, is it just me who feels the media coverage more than a little OTT, if that had been Phillip Average here in Southport, there would have been screams for his head on a platter and at least forced to hand in his keys and license.

Studying the pics it would appear that he has jumped a broken white line where he should have given way to oncoming traffic . That is a motoring offence , I trust proceeding will follow .
REST IN PEACE THE 96.

Orwell said "If there is hope, it lies in the proles." Whilst champagne socialists see diversity idealised at university, the common folk experience it first hand in their neighbour hoods.

Bless you GR, how gullible you are, in reality, there’s more chance of the driver of other car getting prosecuted for getting in his way.
On a more serious note, I would expect that had this been any other 97 year old, the Police would have insisted that they hand in in their license.
